windows activation

This solution is the only one worked for me… restoring windows to an earlier point did not work for me. So try the following

1) Click Start button.
2) Type: CMD.exe into the ‘Search programs and files’ field
3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
4) Type: net stop sppsvc (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
Note: the Software Protection service may not be running, this is ok.
5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
8) Type: net start sppsvc
9) Type: slui.exe
10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automatically.

Apache Protected Folder – How to

In normal Windows Installation
Path to your Apache Folder (C:\apache\ )
Path to your Apache Config Folder ( C:\apache\conf )

In Windows WampServer
Path to your Apache Folder (C:\wamp\bin\apache\apacheX.X.X )
Path to your Apache Config Folder (C:\wamp\bin\apache\apacheX.X.X\conf )

In Linux XAMPP
Path to your Apache Conf Folder ( /etc/httpd/conf/)

1.Open the httpd.conf file located in the Apache

2. Look for the word “AccessFileName .htaccess”
and change it to “AccessFileName ht.acl .htaccess”

3. this is how it should look like

AllowOverride All
Options None
Order deny,allow

4. Go to Apache bin directory and execute these commands

c:\apache\bin>htpasswd
(will show the available options)

c:\apache\bin>htpasswd -c -b passwd.txt username password
(A text file will be created holding the username and password, be careful if there are already passwords stored for other folder in your apache server using the same named convension)

If you execute a dir or ls in the apache\bin directory a password file name “psswd.txt” will be created

5. The next step is to create the .htaccess file in linux or ht.acl in Windows
The reason we added ht.acl file in htppd.conf is because in Windows machine its a hard thing to name a file that way. (the only solution I found was to download a file from my net hosting provider and edit it later for my use)

Here are the contents in the .htaccess or ht.acl file

AuthUserFile c:/apache/passwd.txt
AuthName "My Secured Folder"
AuthType Basic

require valid-user

6.Place this file in the root of each directory you want to secure

7. Restart Apache ( just in case)

8. This is the resulting modal authentication screen each time
you open the folder with your browser

htaccesspop

JUST IN CASE YOU MISUNDERSTOOD THIS IS A TUTORIAL FOR YOUR LOCAL APACHE SERVER.
If you have a hosting there are other more simple ways to do that. (in case you forgot your paying the hoster, ask them to do it for you)

T-SQL Settings Explained

A list of widely used SQL settings Explained

  • ANSI NULLS
  • QUOTED_IDENTIFIER
  • ARITHMABORT
  • ANSI_DEFAULTS
  • ANSI_WARNINGS
  • DATEFIRST
  • DATEFORMAT
  • NOCOUNT
  • NOEXEC
  • IDENTITY_INSERT
  • IMPLICITY_TRANSACTIONS
  • LANGUAGE

ANSI NULLS
– Syntax

SET ANSI_NULLS {ON | OFF}

– Explanation

The SQL-92 standard requires that an equals (=) or not equal to (<>) comparison against a null value evaluates to FALSE. When SET ANSI_NULLS is ON, a SELECT statement using WHERE column_name = NULL returns zero rows even if there are null values in column_name. A SELECT statement using WHERE column_name <> NULL returns zero rows even if there are nonnull values in column_name.

When SET ANSI_NULLS is OFF, the Equals (=) and Not Equal To (<>) comparison operators do not follow the SQL-92 standard. A SELECT statement using WHERE column_name = NULL returns the rows with null values in column_name. A SELECT statement using WHERE column_name <> NULL returns the rows with nonnull values in the column.

Photoshop add transparency technique

Let’s say you have an image with no transparency.
This is a  technique i found to make photos transparent to a specific color.

In the following tut color was black.

You can follow these step to add the desired transparency
PHOTOSHOP NEEDED

Step no 1.
Make a copy of the image. Make it in grayscale. Play a little with the levels so you can do the grey areas whiter.
Make a brush with this image. (DEFINE BRUSH)

Step 2.
Take the original image with no transparency and add a layer mask.
Then use the brush you made in the first step.

Step 3.
Save image in psd or png format. You re Done!!!

These are the before and after images
Original Image

The image “with transparency” (added a random background there to see the result)

The cool thing using this technique is that you dont need to lasso or feather anything. All steps are a standard procedure. The only thing you must master is the leveling so that you can make the transparency to a desired level.

Vista 4gb Problem – Solution

First of all i d like to remind that In most new pc configurations Vista cant be installed in 4gb systems. You have to uninstal 2gb and then when Windows setup is complete you can use the other 2gb.

How to Enable More Than 3.5 GB of Memory in 32-Bit Windows Vista
You’re probably wondering why I picked a number as horrible as 3.5GB? Why not 4GB? Well, there’s a really technical explanation for this but to make a long explanation short, 32-bit operating systems can only handle up to 4GB of memory. In fact, this number may vary but I stuck with 3.5 GB. Along with the RAM, you also have other memory-mapped devices such as your video cards. The memory used counts towards the 4GB virtual memory address capacity of a 32-bit operating system. But actually, the world does not end at 4,096 megabytes for 32-bit Windows Vista users anymore because the Arsgeek is here to save the day.

If you’ve accidentally bought 4GB of RAM, this may be a good idea. And I say may because many 32-bit operating systems begin to lose efficiency as they surpass the 4GB mark. For that reason, if you have less than 3GB RAM, it’s not necessarily the best idea to go out and buy some more RAM. If you want to utilize more RAM (between 8GB and 128GB), you can always switch to 64-bit Windows Vista. Alright, enough babbling. Let’s get started.

Steps:

1) Access cmd: Click on the Start Pearl > type cmd in the Search Bar > and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter (this allows you to run cmd in administrative mode)

2) Type BCDEdit /set PAE forceenable

“BCDEdit is a boot configuration editor for the command line. Using the above command you’ve just enabled Physical Address Extension (PAE) which can address memory larger than 4 GB. ” – Arsgeek
